Bloeit geel in maart-april zoals Cornus mas, maar met iets grotere, rondachtige bloemhoofdjes. Vruchten tot 15 mm lang, glanzend scharlakenrood. Levendige, roodbruine herfstkleur. Mooi als parkboompje en voor tuinen.
